Music is an integral and vibrant aspect of worship and parish life at St. Michael’s.

 

The voices of the congregation are lifted by Music Director Raymond Hawkins, three professional section leaders, and our choir. The parish also enjoys monthly Choral Evensong and an annual concert series.

 

Music Director

Raymond Hawkins is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. While pursuing his studies there as a Kenan Organ Scholar, Raymond developed his career both as a church musician and performing artist. In the domain of church music, he served Augsburg Lutheran Church as music intern for one year before becoming the organist at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, both located in Winston-Salem. As a performer, he has given solo recitals across the country in venues such as the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco and Adolphus Busch Hall at Harvard University.
