What is the Episcopal Church?

Episcopal is the name of our “branch of the Jesus movement,” or our denomination of Christianity. The adjective “episcopal" means “concerning a bishop or bishops.” Our individual churches are led by both clergy (priests and deacons) and laity (the people of the church), under the diocesan (regional) authority of locally elected bishops. read more

Can we get married in the church?

St. Michael’s is available for weddings, and the church can assist with altar flowers and music. The parish hall is also available for rental. All couples, regardless of religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or gender identity, are warmly invited to reach out and start a conversation about how St. Michael’s can support you as you prepare for marriage. read more

Can my child or grandchild be baptized here?

You and/or your family are absolutely welcome at St. Michael’s. Although infant baptism is most common in the Episcopal Church, we warmly welcome all those of any age who would like to learn more about being baptized. read more

When is the Thrift Shop open?

Our Thrift Shop is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am–3:00 pm, with Sunday hours during Marblehead Arts Festival and Christmas Walk weekends. read more

Does St. Michael’s have a choir I can join?

The choir is open to all and sings in the 10:00 am Mass from Michaelmas (September) through Trinity Sunday (usually in early June), as well as most major holy days. Weekly rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7:30 pm from September through early June. The choir also rehearses at 9:00 am on Sundays. read more

How does the church engage in outreach?

St. Michael’s is active in spreading God's word and love in our local communities and the world at large. We have made and sustain connections within our parish, across the North Shore, and across international borders. read more

When is the next evensong?

Choral Evensong is sung at 5:00 pm on the first Sunday of every month, October through May. Please note: There will be no service in April 2023 because of the way Holy Week falls in the calendar. read more
